On May 30, 2008 Dr. Robert Brent received an honorary degree from Thomas Jefferson University. This is the first time in Jefferson's 184-year history that an active facility member was so honored. On July 7, 2008 Dr. Brent was inducted into the International Academy of Perinatal Medicine in the splendiferous ceremony at the Unites Nations. On September 23, 2008 he received the highest award in Pediatrics, the Alfred I. duPont Award for Excellence in Children's' Health Care for his contribution to children's health care and specifically on his research dealing with the risks of radiation to the developing embryo. On September 26, 2008 he was presented the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Rochester and delivered the Distinguished Alumnus Lecture, "Saving Lives and Changing Family Histories."

NIH HELPS ADVANCE WOMEN IN BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH CAREERS
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) published a Request for Applications (RFA) to support research on causal factors and interventions that promote and support the careers of women in biomedical and behavioral science and engineering.
